I know. you never feel like this right?
So the other day, I was feeling pretty down. I'd had a pretty tough few days. Sunday had been a bit of a battle (Contrary to what is commonly reported in the media, pastoring does not always involve rainbows, lollipops and unicorns.)
And it was Monday. I don't think there is a Bi-vocational pastor out there that loves Monday morning. Sunday is tiring, you're giving, and serving, and loving, and praying, and preaching, and teaching, and counselling, and consoling, and exhorting. And now it's Monday, and you have to put food on the table for the family. It's easy to get discouraged.
I was sitting outside my next meeting, honestly feeling like just sitting in the car for the rest of the day. And it was Jonathan who snapped me out of it, courtesy of this little video below:
Jonathan was singing a song we had sung less than 24 hours ago. "There's no one, there's no one like Jesus, there's no one, there's no one like Him"
And just like that, my perspective shifted from carnal to the divine. From secular to sacred. From earthly to heavenly. It didn't really matter what I felt like - it didn't change the fact that there is no one like my Jesus. And just like that - I left my pity party behind, and had an amazing day.
Pastor. Leader. Saint. Person wanting to make a difference for Jesus. Remember that there is no one like Jesus. And be encouraged. You will make it. He's got your back. He will never leave you, nor forsake you. When it is all said and done, Jesus is still the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, and you can trust Him. Why? because there's nobody like Him!
P.S. On second thoughts... pastoring never involves unicorns.
